Diagnosis
The most common symptom of cancer of the testicles is a swelling which is often painless but may be accompanied by tenderness, aching or a feeling of heaviness in one testicle however some victims find that the first symptoms are backache, stomach ache or a cough which may occur as cancer spreads to other parts of the body. Failure by a healthcare practitioner to fully examine the testicles and test relatively vague symptoms at this stage may result in misdiagnosis which can amount to medical negligence. Diagnosis of testicular cancer may involve physical examination, ultrasound scan, operative examination or biopsy.
