Colon Cancer

The symptoms of colon cancer include tiredness, blood in the bowel motions, a change in bowel habit which may include constipation or diarrhoea, weight loss and discomfort. Bowel cancer can cause obstruction resulting in pain, sickness, constipation and bloating. Colon cancer is diagnosed using a variety of techniques all of which may give a misdiagnosis if proper technique is not employed including digital examination, blood tests and sigmoidoscopy or proctoscopy which is internal fibre optic examination.

Small Bowel Cancer

The symptoms of small bowel cancer include blood in the stools, dark/black stools, abdominal pain, weight loss, diarrhoea. Small bowel cancer may also cause a blockage that can cause the bowel to burst. Diagnosis is usually by endoscopy or colonoscopy which is internal fibre optic examination with the opportunity to collect tissue samples for laboratory examination.
